| What's Special
About It?
Next to the telescope itself eyepieces are probably the most important part of an astronomical telescope set up. With the right eyepieces and filters you can enhance your viewing by increasing magnification and clarity What Do You Get? The Celestron Eyepiece Accessory Kit has
been designed for to provide a good range of eyepiece options to cover most seeing
situations. So, you get five superior grade Plössl eyepieces. All are standard
1.25 inch fittings. All the eyepieces are multicoated for maximum contrast and
resolution. The sizes are 4mm, 6mm, 9mm, 15mm, and 32mm. You also get a 2x Barlow
lens which will double the magnification of whichever eyepiece it is used in conjunction
with. Apart from the eyepieces and the Barlow lens you the Celestron Eyepiece
Accessory kit contains six coloured eyepiece filters. These are used for lunar
and planetary observations. You can read more about the filters in the paragraph
below. Finally you get a very nice aluminum carry case to keep it all in. The
case has room for all the items in the Celestron Eyepiece Accessory Kit and the
interior is made of die-cut foam. Filters? Eyepieces
are fairly easy to understand, but what are the filters for? You get seven filters,
they are all designed for planetary and lunar observation. Orange will
enhance lunar features, will reveal more detail in the banding features of Jupiter
and Saturn and will help to reduce the blue sky interference of dusk and dawn
observation of Mercury and Venus. Blue helps with definition and is used
to bring out the red spot on Jupiter and will enhance low contrast features on
Saturn. Deep Yellow also enhances lunar features, it will enhance the desert
areas on Mars and will reveal low contrast surface features on Venus. Red
brings out the polar ice caps on Mars and also sharpens the boundaries of the
yellow Martian dust clouds, it will also help twilight observation of Mercury
and Venus when the planets are near the horizon. Light Green is also used
for polar and sand storm features on Mars, it also helps with the low contrast
hues of blue and red in the atmosphere of Jupiter and the cloud patterns on Venus.
Green is great for brighter comets and enhances the white features in Saturn's
atmosphere. There is also a Moon Filter. This reduces the brightness of
the moon and improves contrast so that you can see more detail on the lunar surface.
