Telephone Headset? The GN Netcom GN9120 is a great DECT cordless telephone headset - designed to work with just about any common office telephone. The GN9120 has a load of features and gives total freedom of movement. With the GN9120 you can move freely up to 100m away from the base. Range is much better than the average DECT handset and GN Netcom have ensured this headset gives excellent clarity. How Does It Work? The GN Netcom GN9120 can be charged up on its base (see image opposite). An hour and a half of charging gives 8 hours of talk time. The base needs to be connected to a normal phone. What you do is plug the GN9120 base into the phone's handset port and then plug the handset into the GN Netcom's base. When the phone rings or when you want to make a call you lift the handset and the GN9120 headset is connected. If you want to use the headset while away from your desk you could use the optional handset lifter to control the handset.

What About the Microphone? The GN Netcom has the option of a noise-cancelling microphone, however unless you work in a call centre or a very noisy office you do not need this. The problem with noise canceling in a quite environment is that it tends to cut off what sound there is - which in a quiet place is your voice. What About Control? The GN Netcom GN9120 has three buttons mounted on the actual headset. These buttons control volume, tone (4 settings), you can also mute the call so that you can hear them but they can't hear you. The other important function the buttons have is, that if used with the optional handset lifter, you can answer and end calls simply by pressing a button on the headset. Anything Else? The GN9120 has a very useful conference option. This allows a conference for up to four people on one call (one external and 3 internal). GN Netcom have designed this headset to be used in a office environment, so the GN9120 is constructed to allow up to 40 units to be used in one office without any conflict or interference. They are not prone to any interference caused by mobile phones, computers or other office equipment. |
BestStuff Test? We tested the GN Netcom GN9120 in our office. Our office is actually next to the warehouse, so people are often wandering from one location to the other while on phone calls. The GN9120 headset was more popular than our usual DECT handsets because it leaves the wearer's hands completely free. The range was better than the DECT handsets and you could even leave the building entirely and stay connected for the entire length of the car park. The clarity of the headset was excellent. For test purposes, we connected the GN Netcom GN9120 to an old Doro handset phone (see image to the left). It worked perfectly. Any handset phone whose handset plugs into the phone with an RJ45 jack is fine for use with the GN9120. It would probably be a good idea to use a phone with plenty of quick dial options though. Something like the NRX EVO would be good.
