USB Network Cable? Networking computers together usually involves PCI card and Cat5e cable. This is an easier way. This 2m cable simply connects to the USB ports of the computers that you want to network together. The two computers can then share data, an Internet connection, printers, scanners etc. With a transfer rate of up to 4MB per second this is especially good for moving large chunks of data from one machine to another. How Does It Work? Once you have connect the USB Network Cable to the PCs and you have set the computers up as a network (within Windows), you will be able to move files by dragging and dropping or saving to the other PC. There is no need for an external power supply as the the power needed is supplied by the USB port. The power consumption is low, so it won't effect anything else your computers do. This lead is usually used for networking two PCs together (often a laptop or notebook PC to a desktop PC) but you could also use it to connect one computer to an already established computer network. Drivers? The USB Network cable is compatible with Mac OS, Windows 98SE, ME and XP. You will need drivers for all or some of these and the various Windows drivers can be downloaded here. While those of you with Macs can get a driver from here. While with Windows in theory you can network computers running different operating systems. In practice, both PCs need to be running the same operating system. Guarantee One year manufacturer's guarantee. |
