Omni Link Pack Satellite and Freeview TV Remote Control Extender

What Is It?

This product solves a problem - once you've laid cable around your home to extend your use of Satellite TV, a Freeview Box or both to another room you still have to change the channel! The Omni Link works with the SLx Link and allows the SLx Link to control more that just one device. This means that now you can control a VCR or Freeview box as well as the Sky box. Once the Omni Link is in place you can control the Satellite box and the Freeview Box and even a VCR as well with the original remote or a suitable universal remote control (see Remote Controls section below). The Omni Link Pack consists of an Omni Link a power adpater for the Omni Link and one SLx Link.

What Does It Work With?

The Omni Link is absolutely wonderful for Sky TV, Freeview boxes and other satellite receivers. You can also use it to control VCRs that are connected. It will also work with Virgin Media as long as the original remote control is used ratehr than a universal remote.

Aerial Amplifiers

For multiple installations a SLx Aerial Amplifier may be needed such as the SLx 2B, 4B, 6B, 8B can be used as these 'B' type amplifiers have a digital bypass built into them and will also feed 9 volts to each output to power the Omni Link and SLx Links and has a reverse return path to allow the remote control signal to pass back to the receiver. The Omni Link will only work in conjunction with the SLx Link from the same manufacturer. The SLx By-Pass Kit is used with older type amplifiers and splitters that do not allow the 9 volts to pass through the circuit, and also do not have a reverse return path. But, this will only allow the digibox to be controlled from 1 extra point, and only 1 bypass kit can be used on a system.

If you are in a single household and you are running just 2 TV's your installation should be as follows:-
The aerial in the roof should feed to the aerial input on the digibox, your satellite dish must also feed into the digibox Your main TV must connect to RF out 1, this will show both terrestrial and satellite channels. Then you must connect your 2nd TV to RF out 2, this again will show both terrestrial and satellite channels. You must adjust the software in the digibox (see Omni Link and SLx Link instructions) to switch on the 9 volts to power the Links. The Omni Link will then allow you to operate your digibox from your bedroom TV. The same is true of a Freeview box and both a Freeview and a Sky box can bother be operated through the Omni Link. You can also power the Omni Link with a power adapter.

Omni Link Pack

The Omni Link works by picking up the remote control signal from your Sky, Freeview or other remote in your bedroom via the SLx Link's little eye, converting the infra red pulses to electronic pulses, sending the electronic pulses down the cable to the receiver. The receiver will accept the electronic pulses only at RF out 2 and they then pass through the same circuit as the remote receiver eye that is on the front of your digibox. If there are any interruptions on the cable (splitters, amplifiers or isolated wall plates), these can also block the signal from returning to the receiver and stop this from functioning properly.

Remote Controls

Often people who buy a SLx Link also need a second remote control. Remote Controls.
