What's It For? The Philex Wand AV Hub is another fantastic AV product that fills a very useful role for a lot of people. We've always liked the original Philex Wand and now the Super Wand video senders. Now Philex have brilliantly combined the video sender function with an AV Hub. This means that you can connect up to four AV Scart devices together and control them with the Wand AV Hub remote control AND at the same time, beam the output wirelessly to another TV in your home! For instance you could connect your satellite receiver, a Freeview box, a VCR and a DVD Player together and watch any of them from either TV in your home.
What's Do You Get? The Philex Wand AV Hub comes in two main units. The Transmitter which connects up to your various items of AV equipment and to your main TV, and the Receiver which receives signals wirelessly from the Transmitter and connects up to a second TV. The Philex Wand AV Hub Transmitter has four Scart sockets on the back of the transmitter - they are named: Satellite, DVD, VCR (Record Available) and Aux (this one would usually go to the main TV), but of course you can connect anything you like to them. On the front of the Wand AV Hub Transmitter there are five selection buttons. Four of these control the four Scart inputs and the fifth one is for switching between AV and RF (main TV or second TV). All these functions can also be controlled with the remote control that comes with the Wand AV Hub. The Philex Wand AV Hub Receiver has two outputs, a Scart output and a coaxial (aerial) output. The aerial output means that you can connect the Wand AV Hub to a portable or older TV that does not have a Scart socket. The Wand AV Hub Receiver also comes with its own remote control. Remote Control? While the remote controls supplied with the Wand AV Hub will control the functions of the Hub itself, they will not operate the machines connected to the Hub. However, Philex have got around this problem by including a 4 way remote control extender. This remote control extender allows you to control each machine connected to the Hub using its own remote control. So if, for instance, you want to go to bed and watch a DVD on your portable TV in the bedroom, all you have to do is take the DVD Player's remote control with you. So What? Apart from the massive benefit of being able to watch anything on any TV in your home, using the Wand AV Hub means that you save wear and tear on connections, there is no need to be constantly connecting and disconnecting things and you can connect several different devices to one TV Scart socket. What About Signal? Providing you have the Transmitter and Receiver lined up properly and switched to the same channel (there are four) then the picture quality should be good broadcast quality. This is about what you would get from a TV connected to an aerial. |

What's In The Box? The Philex Wand AV Hubs comes complete with: The Wand AV Hub Transmitter, the Wand AV Hub Receiver, two remote controls (one for the Transmitter and one for the Receiver), two Scart leads, one RF aerial cable, two power adapters, IR remote control extender and the manual. Anything Else? The Philex wand AV Hub looks really nice. The transmitter and the Receiver have non scratch rubber feet. If you want to connect four items of AV equipment to all four of the Transmitter's Scart sockets and also connect the Transmitter to a TV you can do with by using an optional Scart Splitter.
