BlueDelta Milestone
It is possible to transmit high quality audio and video over very long distances (up to a mile) using cheap Cat5e cable (which is computer networking cable). To do this all you need is the Cat5e cable itself and a system such as the Bluedelta Milestone. Milestone is a multi award winning UK designed audio visual conversion system. Recently Milestone has been upgraded and the new Milestone 2 is even better.
Basically you have a master unit and slave units (as many as you need). The master connects to the video source and the slaves to the remote TVs. At it's most simple you could connect a master unit to a Sky, Freeview or Cable box and using Cat5e cable send the output to the slave unit that then translates the signal into composite video for displaying on a remote TV.
If you have multiple source devices you can use a Bluedelta Smart Scart as an automatic switching device. The Smart Scart allows you to connect up to four Scart devices to the Milestone 2.0. So, for instance you could connect a Freeview box, Sky Box, DVD Player and CCTV system all to the Milestone 2.0 system at the same time.
If you have more than one remote TV to feed a signal to, you can use the Bluedelta Milestone 2.0 Hub (there are two versions a four output unit and an eight output unit).
Bluedelta Milestone 2.0 has some unique features:
* Scart Connectors - master and slave units plug directly into your source and display devices respectively. They are tiny - only as large as a high-quality Scart plug , so don’t take up lots of space. There are also phono versions of both master and slave.
* Modularity - the same basic building blocks are used for all Milestone 2.0 systems. So, you can install a simple point-to-point to try it out, then when you want to upgrade you simply add Milestone 2.0 Hubs, Milestone 2.0 Slaves, and anything else you require to the system. You never have to throw the original bits away and start again.
* Multi-Scart Interface - a single device to connect all your AV kit to the network via Cat5e.
* Power Efficiency - Milestone 2.0 has the lowest power consumption of any device on the market. It also has a unique power-save mode, so when no signal is present you save a further 80%.
* Remote powering - all Bluedelta Milestone 2.0 Slave units are powered entirely through the Cat5e cable, so there is no need for a local power supply at the remote TV end.
* Master back-powering - if necessary a Bluedelta Milestone 2.0 Master unit can be back-powered from a Hub. This is especially useful for remote camera applications.
* Remote Control feedback is included as standard. Bluedelta Milestone 2.0 Master units come complete with the standard “Blaster”, whilst Bluedelta Milestone 2.0 Slave units - include the standard Bluedelta Smart Eye. Together, these devices forward remote control signals from the remote TVs to the signal source. This gives you complete control of your entire system from wherever you have installed the Bluedelta Milestone 2.0.
* There are no hidden extras. All you need for a basic system is supplied as standard, (except the CAT5 cable of course.) So you can get up and running with the minimum of fuss.
* Audio - the Bluedelta Milestone 2.0’s audio capability is on a par with that of far more expensive audio-only systems, that don’t do video at all! Bluedelta Milestone 2.0 offers full 5.1 compatible stereo.
* Signaling - Bluedelta Milestone 2.0 carries On / Off / Widescreen signals from source to display, enabling automatic input selection, and of course helping to get the aspect ratio right.
