Soft Start 24V 1200 Watt Power Inverter. Modified sine wave output. Reduced noise on output, suitable for most electronic items.

The Sun-1200 24V can be used with everything with a rating of 1200W or below. This would include portable TVs, DVD players, some medium duty power tools (check the tool's rating to be sure) notebook computers, low wattage microwave ovens, video cameras, portable hi-fis, electric shavers etc. This is a modified sine wave inverter, so is ideal for everything except heavy inductive and capacitive loads, for these it would be best to use a pure sine wave inverter. Do not use a modified sine wave inverter with fluorescent lighting, domestic refrigerators or with power tool fast chargers, the capacitive load may damage the inverter. Also, if you wish to use the inverter with an extension lead do not use a lead which has surge/spike protection as these also have storage capacitors.

With regard to microwave ovens, which is probably the most popular item used with this inverter. Please remember that the inverter is supplying the microwave's output, not its input. Microwave manufacturer's give the microwave output rating and this can be confusing, the input rating is usually on the back of the microwave. Often cheaper microwaves tend to use more power too. As a very rough guide the Panasonic microwave we have in out office outputs 800W and uses 1250W of electricity.

Safety?
The Sun-1200 24V 1200 Watt Power Inverter has heavy duty fuse protection. The unit is fused and comes with four spare spade fuses.

The Sun-1200 24V is a soft start inverter so it can power most reactive loads. It is a modified sine wave output inverter with reduced noise on output, so it is suitable for most electronic apparatus.

When the Sun-1200 24V is working at full power it will draw a very large current – over 100 amps. If the supply voltage drops to 20.5v there is a high pitched audible warning. If the voltage drops to 20V the overload trips or the fuses blow. This is to protect the batteries from being completely flattened. For use with inverters like this deep cycle batteries are better than car or leisure batteries.

If the batteries are charged by an engine (car or boat), it helps to have the engine running, (charging) when using a large load. Inverters are temperature sensitive - in use they create heat and their capacity depends on their ability to dissipate this heat. Allow good ventilation. Operating ambient temperature 5 to 25 degrees Celsius. Above 20 degrees the power capacity drops off.
