The Tripp Lite PVINT375 DC-to-AC power inverter allows you to power a range of devices of 375W and under from a car cigarette lighter socket.

The inverter, which produces a modified sine wave, takes 12 volt DC power from your car cigarette lighter socket and produces modified sine wave AC power compatible with 220-240 volt/50Hz mains powered equipment.

The Tripp-Lite PVINT375 (as the name suggests) produces a 375 watt continuous output and a 600 Watt short term peak surge output.

The Tripp-Lite PVINT375 is usually used to power laptop and notebook computers, but it can be used for most non-capacitative low loads such as TV/VCRs, gaming systems and small mains power tools.

The inverter has a universal plug socket so it can accept French and German style two pin Euro plugs as well as the UK/Ireland 3 pin plug plugs.

The casing is all-metal, so the Tripp-Lite has been designed to be robust and withstand the rough and tumble of camping etc.

There is a low-battery alarm and auto-shut down, which will prevent you completely flattening your battery and leaving yourself stranded.

There is a lighted power switch (very useful in the dark), a user replaceable 40 Amp automotive spade fuse, a built-in cooling fan and 1 meter DC input cable with a cigarette lighter style plug.

Usage Warnings

For some reason a lot of people try to use this kind of inverter with hair dryers and hair straighteners - this is a very bad idea! All appliances that produce heat use a great deal more than 375 Watts.

Do not use a modified sine wave inverter with fluorescent lighting, domestic refrigerators or with power tool fast chargers, the capacitive load may damage the inverter. Also, if you wish to use the inverter with an extension lead do not use a lead which has surge/spike protection as these also have storage capacitors.

We've used a few inverters over the years mostly for camping lights, laptop computer and a TV. This one is the best one by far. Very reliable and never any problem of any kind. The sound of the cooling fan was a bit annoying at first, but I suppose that is the price of a feature that will likely prolong the inverters life.
