What Is DECT?

What Does It Stand For? DECT = Digitally Enhanced Cordless Technology.

What Does That Mean? With an ordinary cordless phone when the user moves around you often get an annoying buzzing noise. Sometimes the interference can make everything inaudible, which rather defeats the object. DECT phones are much less prone to interference.

How Far Can You Roam? The whole point of a cordless phone is that you can move around. But all phone systems have to have a base station. This base station is sold, usually with one handset. Typically you can move up to 300 metres from the base station and still make and receive calls. You can also move anywhere in the house, even outside.

Adding More Handsets? It depends on the system, with all the BestStuff DECT phones you can add at least 5 handsets working from the same base unit.

Internal Calls? Yes, you can make calls from one handset to another, and no this doesn't mean that you are "engaged" to incoming calls.

So Who Might Want Them? Some people use them at home, often keeping a different handset in different rooms. Some small businesses use them to create a cost effective telephone system.
